The internal power switches also offer complete protection from over-temperature, over-voltage and reverse current. The device also features an internal voltage regulator (with an adjustable output voltage) that provides the necessary voltage and current to support the connected device.

The MAX5941BCSE+T has several features designed to ensure safety and reliability, including signal line protection and power cross-talk prevention. The signal line protection feature protects the signal side of the PoE circuit from interference, while the power cross-talk prevention feature prevents excessive power transfer between the two ports. The device is also equipped with an integrated switch power-on feature that protects against PSE Network faults (failed or non-connected networks). The MAX5941BCSE+T also includes an integrated polarity detection feature that automatically detects and reports the positive and negative signal lines on the PoE circuit.
