Power Over Ethernet (PoE) Controllers offer efficient solutions for controlling and monitoring power supplies to various electrical devices. The MAX5952CUAX+ is a high voltage power controller designed to efficiently enable applications that require high voltage remote signals and channels. It supports up to 4 channels of Power over Ethernet (PoE) and up to 4 channels of Low Voltage Differential Signaling (LVDS). It is a Power Management Integrated Circuit (PMIC) that provides a combination of power-over-Ethernet (PoE), low voltage differential signaling (LVDS), universal serial bus (USB) and component video channels.
The MAX5952CUAX+ is a nonisolated, programmable high voltage power controller that offers the highest voltage capability (96V) among nonisolated controllers. This high voltage output allows the MAX5952CUAX+ to support a wide range of high-voltage applications such as routers and other enterprise-grade PoE-enabled devices. The MAX5952CUAX+ provides four PoE ports, four LVDS ports, one USB port, and two component video outputs for audio/video applications.
The MAX5952CUAX+ supports up to eight Class 3 channels of PoE that can supply power to PoE-enabled devices. Each Class 3 channel is capable of providing up to 15.4W of power. The MAX5952CUAX+ is designed to detect PoE protocol compliant devices by sensing the presence of a Powered Device (PD) and then providing up to 4 channels of power for up to four PoE-enabled devices. The device monitors both Voltage and Current and takes appropriate action to limit power when outputs exceed safety margins.
The MAX5952CUAX+ also features an Auto-Zero Time Division Multiplexing (A-Z-TDM) protocol, which enables the use of high voltage inputs while meeting both EMI and transient requirements. This A-Z-TDM protocol enables the controller to provide accurate active switching control of power to multiple load devices. Thus, it ensures that connected devices receive the desired power while complying with PoE and IEEE standards.
In addition, the MAX5952CUAX+ provides low voltage differential signaling (LVDS) support for operating devices at up to 12.5GHz data rate over shielded twisted-pair cables. With LVDS, multiple devices can be cascaded at high data rates, taking advantage of the extensive range of cable length and reduced power consumption. This feature further supports high-speed data transfer for applications such as industrial imaging and factory automation, as well as for other enterprise-grade applications.
Additionally, the MAX5952CUAX+ also provides support for the USB 3.0 interface, allowing it to connect to various USB-enabled devices. USB 3.0 is a high-speed interface that can deliver up to 10 Gbps bandwidth. This enables applications such as high-definition video streaming, ultra-fast data transfer, secure data sharing, and more. The MAX5952CUAX+ also supports HDMI2.0, which is capable of delivering up to 2.25Gbps bandwidth for audio/video applications.
