Working Principle

The MAX6120ESA+ is a bandgap-type voltage reference that uses a diode-connected transistor as its voltage reference source. The transistor acts as a temperature-sensitive resistor, and provides voltage reference stability over temperature by compensating for the changes in output voltage due to temperature changes. The MAX6120ESA+’s reference output is maintained over a wide input voltage range (2.5V to 4.5V). Additionally, the MAX6120ESA+ features ultra-low power consumption (typically 30uA), and high accuracy (+/-0.15% typ).

The MAX6120ESA+ includes built-in EMI protection and is configured for both single- and split-supply applications. It has an internal temperature sensor for monitoring and diagnosing abnormal thermal conditions, and provides a signal-to-noise ratio of 120 dB minimum.
