This MAX6138AEXR41+T precision voltage reference is suitable for use in high accuracy, low temperature coefficient, low noise precision designs.The MAX6138AEXR41+T is a fully integrated voltage reference featuring the industry’s first temperature stable, ultra-low noise 400µVp-p output ripple and ±0.2% initial accuracy. It features a temperature range from -40°C to +85°C with a maximum temperature drift of ±7ppm/°C of offset with no external trimming required. The MAX6138AEXR41+T also provides up to 35mA of output current drive and sub-microvolt ripple performance.The MAX6138AEXR41+T voltage reference has many advantageous features in comparison to the usual bandgap devices. Its design eliminates most of the thermal noise and offsets caused by conventional bandgap devices, providing improved accuracy and reliability. In addition, its low temperature sensitivity, wide supply voltage operation, and low noise performance make potential new applications possible.The MAX6138AEXR41+T is useful in applications such as video systems, A/D and D/A converters, data acquisition systems, instrumentation, medical systems, and motor controls. The MAX6138AEXR41+T is also used in temperature control and measurement systems and other least significant bit (LSB) voltage reference sensitive circuits.The MAX6138AEXR41+T uses a low precision two-stage bandgap reference architecture with a combination of a fractional-type runaway-supply circuit and a low power, cost-effective integrated linear regulator to achieve high accuracy and low noise performance. Its architecture is highly optimized for low temperature sensitivity and low noise performance.The MAX6138AEXR41+T employs a wide input voltage range of 1.2V to 16V and uses an internal surface mount resistor for setting output voltage levels. It requires an external current setting resistor for maximum output current limit. The resistor adjusts the output current limit of the device.The voltage regulator is a high performance low power, low noise linear regulator. It is capable of providing a maximum load current of 35mA from a single supply voltage and a maximum output voltage range of 0.59-V to 7.0V.
