MAX632AESA+ is a switching regulator which provides extreme power efficiency, low noise and small package size. Its operating range of 1.3V to 36V makes it suitable for various applications such as distributed power systems or provide point of load regulation. It is designed to deliver up to 3A at a maximum junction temperature of 125°C and provides superior load and line regulation.

The MAX632AESA+ range of products further extends the range of DC-DC regulators that operate with a 36V input range and a 12V or lower output range. It provides various features like wide input voltage range, low quiescent current, low dropout (LDO) mode, fast current transient response, low Rds(on) at the maximum output current conditions, short-circuit protection, over-temperature shut-down, noise-free soft-start, and input under-voltage lockout. The working principle of MAX632AESA+ is based on the Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) concept. In PWM, a square wave signal is used to turn the switch On and Off to control the output voltage. The frequency of the PWM signal is determined by a frequency setting resistor connected to the inverting input of the internal Error Amplifier. The Error Amplifier compares the sensed output voltage with a reference voltage and produces the PWM signal. If the sensed output voltage is larger than the reference voltage, the PWM signal is in High state and turns the switch On. If the sensed output voltage is lower than the reference voltage, the PWM signal is in Low state and turns the switch Off. By controlling the duty cycle of then PWM signal, the output voltage will be regulated.
