The MAX6675 temperature sensor chip is a low-cost sensor capable of detecting temperatures ranging from -20 degrees Celsius to +700 degrees Celsius. The MAX6675EVKIT evaluation board features various components, such as input connectors, LEDs, temperature sensors, a power module, and a heat sink for heat dissipation. These components allow for intuitive configuration and an easy connection to a wide range of devices.The evaluation board includes a number of housing options, such as 0.1” pitch headers, jumper wires, and ribbon cables, that allow designers to adapt the board for use in a wide range of scenarios. The board also features various power source options to provide power to the MAX6675 temperature sensor chip.The MAX6675EVKIT operates on two basic principles: thermoelectricity and resistance. Thermoelectricity Principle: Thermoelectricity is a phenomenon in which a voltage is generated when two metals with different electric potentials are connected. In the MAX6675EVKIT, the thermocouple junction is formed between two different metals, which would be either chromel and alumel or copper and constantan. The junction of these two metals generates a voltage that is directly proportional to the temperature difference at the two junctions. This voltage is then sent to the conditioning circuitry of the MAX6675 temperature sensor chip, which converts the voltage into a temperature reading.Resistance Principle: Resistance is a physical property of an object that determines how easily it can be traversed by electric current. Different temperatures cause different amounts of resistance. The MAX6675EVKIT utilizes the resistance principle to measure the temperature of objects by measuring the resistance of the thermistor.
