Working Principle of MAX693ACPE

The MAX693ACPE consists of an oxide-nitride-oxide (ONO) silicon controlled rectifier (SCR) and a logic comparator. The SCR part of the device detects a power-on reset (POR) signal when the voltage on VCC exceeds the power-on reset (POR) threshold. The device measures the capacitor voltage on the C pin with the comparator to generate a reset signal. When the voltage on the C pin drops below a preset voltage (usually less than 1.2V), the logic output of the device is pulled low and reset is asserted. When the reset condition is demagnetized, the logic output of the device goes high again, allowing normal operation.

In addition to that, MAX693ACPE offers additional features like low voltage reset (LVR) and watchdog timer (WDT). The LVR feature is used to detect if the voltage on the VCC pin is below a predetermined voltage value. The WDT feature can be used to detect a timer reset or system hang-up.
