MAX6983AUG+T is a dedicated constant current source chip with a maximum up to 40 mA. It belongs to the peripheral control and management integrated circuit (PMIC) under the MAXim Integrated Device (MAXIM). It is a type of LED Driver.

MAX6983AUG+T can support four channels of LEDs with brightness range from 0-100%. It has a 16-bit R/W access mode, allowing users to remotely control LED intensity without the need to ground the LED. It is designed with a high efficiency and constant current function to guarantee LED temperature stability. The device is designed with operating frequency of up to 10MHz and 20V level, allowing for precise control of LED current. MAX6983AUG+T makes use of a pulse-width modulation (PWM) technique to determine the output current level to the LED from the digital input. It uses 4 control pins CN0~CN3 to control the brightness of each channel. The size of the \'pulse\' determines the output current level to the LED. When the CN01~CN3 pins are set to low level, the output current is determined by the internal D/A converter, which can achieve 16-bit linear control of the dimming level. The output current of each channel can be set by programming IMAXx registers from 0 to 40mA.

MAX6983AUG+T is applicable in various LED applications, such as LCD backlights, cell phone external LED lighting, portable LED lighting projectors and LED displays.
