The MAX800LCPE+ is an Ultra Low-Power, precision microprocessor (µP) reset circuit used in many modern electronics. It functions as a supervisor circuit and provides a reset signal during transitions in VCC input voltage, power supply ripple and short duration overvoltage.

The MAX800LCPE+ has a wide voltage range and can supply reset currents in two modes, manual and forced. The manual reset mode is ideal for resets that occur at power-on when the voltage is stable and for resets triggered by software commands. The forced reset mode is used for resets occurring during power transients.

The MAX800LCPE+ generates reset pulses that are active-low and remain low for a minimum amount of time, known as the reset timeout period, after the reset trigger. This timeout period is adjustable in increments of 10µs to a maximum of 875µs. The default timeout period is 180µs.

The MAX800LCPE+ features a reset monitor circuit that controls the reset output. This monitor provides two reset states, one active (low) and one inactive (high). The inactive state resets the µP in a power-on state and prevents any additional power-on resets. The active state enables the reset output, allowing the reset pulse to be generated in response to a power supply or software command.

The MAX800LCPE+ can reset µPs with supply voltages up to 12V, with a tolerable voltage range of 2.7V and 5.5V. The reset output drive is capable of supplying pulses up to 200mA for 5V and 10V supply lines. The propagation delay time (tPD) is 7µs.

The MAX800LCPE+ provides both manual and forced reset modes. Manual reset mode is triggered by a software command and is ideal for systems that are connected to a single power supply. Forced reset mode is activated by power transients and is ideal for systems connected to multiple power sources.

The MAX800LCPE+ also features an undervoltage (UV) monitor circuit. This circuit monitors VCC and ensures that the voltage does not fall below the reset threshold, which is adjustable. If the voltage falls below the threshold, an active-low reset is generated.

The MAX800LCPE+ also incorporates a power-on reset (POR) circuit that resets the master µP in a power-on state. This circuit is typically used in systems with only one supply voltage rail. The POR circuit can also be used in systems with multiple supply rails, although it will only reset the master µP in a power-on state.
