MAX800LCUE+ is an application-specific supervisor IC that offers superior MCU reset and power-on reset functions in a compact, sub-6mm x 6mm package. This tiny IC offers advanced design flexibility to maximize board space and also provide higher reliability and reduced component count in harsh environmental applications. The MAX800LCUE+ is suited for various industrial, automotive, and consumer electronic applications. It is designed to monitor the power supplies for reset and power-on reset protection for a wide range of microcontroller, microprocessor, and host platform applications.

The MAX800LCUE+ is an advanced MCU supervisor that helps protect a controller, a data bus, or a system from reset or power-on reset (PoR) failure. It is designed to provide reliable MCU reset and power-on reset functions in harsh designs. The device can help protect designs from power surges, brownouts, and transients. The MAX800LCUE+ is a versatile device that also integrates external key features such as brownout detection, programmable reset timeout, and system latency information. It provides users with flexible and customizable setup options.

The MAX800LCUE+ uses a single-stage power-on reset (PoR) and reset sequence. The integrated PoR output is asserted if the main supply voltage falls below a predetermined voltage level set by the user. Similarly, the reset output is asserted if the main supply voltage drops below an internally-generated reset threshold voltage level. For automotive applications, the device also integrates over-voltage and reverse-polarity protection.

The device also integrates intelligent reset timeout feature. This feature allows the user to select the preferred reset time-out duration. The duration can be chosen from the tOFF circuit by connecting a capacitor in parallel to the reset output pin. The reset timeout can be calculated from the following equation: tOFF(ms) = (C1 × R1)/VDD. Where C1 is the capacitor value in Farads, R1 is the internal resistor value in ohms, and VDD is the main supply voltage. This feature helps ensure an orderly system startup and allows the user to tailor the reset duration to their application\'s specific needs.

The MAX800LCUE+ also includes an internal low-voltage detector (Ltdet) with an adjustable threshold of 0.685 V – 3.0 V. The Ltdet input can be used to monitor a charge pump, internal VDD regulator, or any other voltage rail in the system. The internal reset structure ensure safe operation in case of brown-out or under voltage conditions by providing a reset signal before the voltage falls below the set threshold. The device also provides an open-drain reset output and an active-high reset expiry signal for enhanced system integration.

In addition to the protection and reset functions, the MAX800LCUE+ also includes an adjustable reset delay. This feature allows the user to program a delay to prevent false reset asserts due to input noise or momentary power dips. The adjustable reset delay feature helps ensure that the reset is initiated only when a convenient time is available.

The MAX800LCUE+ offers many advanced PoR and reset protection features in a small package. This offer design flexibility and helps reduce board space, component count, and system cost. The device also offers superior reliability in harsh environmental applications.
