Power management integrated circuits (PMICs) are essential building blocks within the modern electronic system design chain. Supervisors, in particular, are the devices within PMICs that monitor power supplies and detect deviation from user specified voltages by triggering either faults or power reset. MAX800LEUE+ is one such supervisor manufactured by Maxim Integrated. It is designed for identifying microprocessor (uP) resets or “brownouts”, meaning that it monitors the power supply voltage levels and triggers a reset signal when a preset threshold is exceeded.

The maximum input voltage of the supervisor is 16V, allowing it to monitor higher voltages than traditional supervisors. The reset threshold voltage can be set anywhere between 1.0V and 4.8V with a reset threshold accuracy of 8%. The power supply current consumption of the MAX800LEUE+ is under 10μA in shutdown mode.

The working principle of the MAX800LEUE+ is pretty straightforward.
