System supervisors exist to monitor and control system behavior. They provide protection for the system by detecting a variety of fault conditions, including power supply and clock failure, over temperature situations and out of tolerance processor signals. The MAX804SCPA+ product falls into this category of components.

The MAX804SCPA+ is a low-power system supervisor with integrated precision voltage monitoring. It is a highly integrated and small size solution tailored for the protection needs of today’s microprocessors and other system components, such as SRAM and FPGAs. Its operating range is from +2.2V to +5.5V and is able to detect supply voltage down to +1.6V.

When the input voltage is below its reset threshold, the RESET signal is asserted and all its outputs are set to low. As long as the input voltage exceeds the reset threshold, the RESET pin is released. The VOUT signal is also active when the input voltage is above its alert threshold.

The MAX804SCPA+ provides typical voltage reset thresholds for microprocessors and other components, such as SRAM and FPGAs. It also has a programmable reset timeout feature which means that the MAX804SCPA+ will hold the reset line active for a minimal amount of time, even if the compatible voltage goes below the reset threshold within that time. This feature helps prevent false resets.
