PMIC (Power Management Integrated Circuit) is one of the most broadly used semiconductors in modern electronic systems. PMICs provide power solutions that enable improvements in system design and performance. Supervisors are one of the many types of PMICs that supervise a system\'s voltage and current levels and provide alarm output when the levels get out-of-range.
The MAX807LEPE+ is a low power 2.7V/3.3V micropower voltage supervisor that provides detection and monitoring of power-supply voltage faults. The MAX807LEPE+ features an auto-reset function that automatically resumes normal operation when powered from the input supply. The device is available in a space-saving 8-pin, µMAX® package and 5-pin SOT23 packages. It is capable of providing system reset or a reset strobe or hiccup output. The MAX807LEPE+ has a quiescent current of 45 µA and is capable of running reliably at temperatures of up to +125°C.
The MAX807LEPE+ is suitable for use in a variety of different applications, including battery- powered systems, industrial equipment, and hand-held instruments. It can also be used in desktop and server computer systems, both for users of Windows operating systems as well as Linux users. The MAX807LEPE+ is suitable for Low power/low starting current applications (< 5mA) and is available in different temperature grades(-40°C to +85°C, -40°C to +125°C).
The MAX807LEPE+ features undervoltage and overvoltage protection that is truly independent of the power-up and reset timing and operates without false triggering. It also features a Very low current input reference that is unaffected by power-supply transients. Other features include an adjustable delay time, reset or interrupt output, and a built-in power-on reset.
The MAX807LEPE+ works by connecting to the power supply that requires monitoring. Once connected, the device monitors the voltage of the power supply and will alarm when the voltage exceeds preset limits. If the voltage exceeds the preset maximum voltage, the output of the device will be logic high, indicating an overvoltage condition. Conversely, if the voltage is below the set minimum voltage, then the output of the device will be logic low, indicating an undervoltage condition. This feature allows for faster system recovery and improved system reliability.
The MAX807LEPE+ features an adjustable reset time that can be set by changing an external capacitor connected to pin 5 of the device. This reset time is adjustable from milliseconds to minutes, depending on the value of the external capacitor. When the voltage of the power supply falls below the preset minimum voltage, the output will be logic low, indicating an undervoltage condition. This logic low output triggers the reset process which will issue a delay based on the value of the capacitors connected to the device.
The MAX807LEPE+ is a simple, yet powerful tool that provides continuous monitoring of power supply voltage conditions. It has a low quiescent current and is capable of running reliably at temperatures of up to +125°C. This makes it suitable for a variety of applications, including battery-powered systems and industrial equipment.
