Working Principle

The MAX820LCPE+ measures the input voltage and compares it against two different thresholds. The first threshold is a low reset-signal threshold (Vlow), and the second is a high-reset-threshold voltage (Vhigh). If the measured voltage is within this range, the device functions as an open switch. However, if the voltage exceeds the upper limit (Vhigh) or is lower than the (Vlow) limit, the switch is closed. When Vhigh is exceeded, the reset-signal output is set low and the device signals an active-reset fault. This feature allows the system to return to an initial power condition and functions as a safety feature in the system. Likewise, if Vlow is exceeded, then the reset-signal output is set high, and the device signals an inactive-reset fault.
