MAX820MESE+ is a supervisor integrated circuit (IC) designed to protect and monitor applications operating from a single or dual supply. In order to protect and optimize performance, this supervisor IC is designed to offer a range of monitoring options for both power and I/O, as well as safety-related features such as overvoltage protection and monitoring.

The MAX820MESE+ supervisors provide up to three power supplies (dual, single or battery backup). The internal circuitry monitors each supply for undervoltage and overvoltage conditions, and automatically controls the system power supplies for optimal performance. The MAX820MESE+ features an adjustable threshold detector to allow for point setting of the undervoltage and overvoltage conditions, and a unique delay shutdown feature that can be used to manage system power cycling.

In addition to the power supply supervision and protection, the MAX820MESE+ provides up to four input lines; each input line can be configured as a logic input or user-defined trigger, providing the user with more flexibility and control. The MAX820MESE+ also offers a programmable watchdog timer, allowing the user to set a fixed timeout interval, alerting the user of system performance issues.

The MAX820MESE+ also provides two manual-reset inputs, allowing the user to reset the supervisor from an input switch or from an external signal. The two manual-reset inputs provide greater flexibility in system reset operations. A built-in reset output and a power-on reset are also included in the MAX820MESE+ for added functionality and convenience.

The MAX820MESE+ is designed in such a way that it is capable of operating at a wide range of temperatures; the operating temperature range is -40˚C to +150˚C. This makes it suitable for industrial and automotive applications, where temperature control is critical.
