Working Principle
The MAX8214BESE+ utilizes an on-chip 2.5V voltage detector and a 5V comparator. Voltage out of the range of 1.8V to 5.5V can be monitored for manual or automatic reset, depending on the setting of the reset timers and the need for maximum control. The reset timers allows the voltage to be monitored from 1 second to 8 seconds before triggering a reset.
The bidirectional logic interface is a two-line logic level shifter combination. This allows for different logic levels of the application to be accessed without having to manually modify the logic design. It is useful for applications where microcontroller interface communication is desired.
The digital logic output works in conjunction with the voltage detector, comparator and logic interface. It allows the system to be monitored at any point in time, alerting the user when critical voltages are exceeded. It also allows for manual selection of the reset timer, and can provide additional protection such as short circuit protection, over voltage protection and reverse voltage protection.
The MAX8214BESE+ can be used in low power applications that require monitoring and protection. It is widely used in battery-powered applications, industrial and medical applications, because of its low power and high reliability.
