The MAX8216ESD+ is a supervisor IC that provides a fixed 2.5V supply voltage, voltage monitoring, and external components to accommodate customization for additional monitoring requirements. It is designed to solve system power supply/reset sequencing requirements for today\'s advanced computer systems, medical and telecom equipments. The MAX8216ESD+ effectively eliminates a number of additional components needed to monitor the system power supply. This device is ideal for both AC and DC power supplies, and it is very flexible in allowing for a variety of monitor functions and reset controllers.

The MAX8216ESD+ is divided into two basic sections, the Voltage Supervisor and the Reset Controller. The Voltage Supervisor (VS) section monitors the system\'s supply voltages and provide protection in the event of power drops or over voltage. The reset controller (RST) section controls the reset timing. Since these two sections are separated, each of these two functions can be configured respectively according the customer\'s specific requirements.

The Voltage Supervisor has a internally fixed trip point of 2.5V, which can be extended to 5.5V by an external connection. The RST Section has multiple reset sources, including manual reset input, reset from VS section, hardware reset, thermal warning reset output and delayed hardware reset. The RST output is also configurable, providing a choice between active-low and active-high output, both with fixed time delay. All functions are available in small TSOT or surface mount packages.

Additionally, the MAX8216ESD+ provides set and clear capability for self-clearing reset and power fail detect. The hysteresis function ensures a stable output trip point, which limits the magnitude and duration of intermittent power disturbances and noise signals. The low power consumption and fast activation time also makes it suitable for battery backed-up applications.
