The MAX8559ETA11+T is a high precision, low noise linear voltage regulator. This device offers excellent load and line regulation, low noise, dropout voltage, and is available in a space-saving TinyPakTM package. The MAX8559ETA11+T is specifically designed for broadband communication applications requiring very low noise on the output voltage (including PLLs, ADCs, and DACs).

The MAX8559ETA11+T offers excellent specifications, with a voltage output accuracy of ±1.5%, low quiescent current of 1.5mA typical and a dropout voltage of 0.45V at 400mA. It features internal short-circuit protection and thermal shutdown. This linear regulator can provide a supply current up to 400mA, and with a low output voltage of 1.2–5.5V. This device is also available in low voltage and high voltage versions.

The MAX8559ETA11+T has both single and dual 45µA current limit output options. This allows the user to switch between single or dual output depending on the application. The single current limit output provides an output current of up to 350mA, while the dual current limit output provides two current limit outputs of up to 200mA each. The dual option also offers a power-sharing feature, allowing the two outputs to be connected in parallel to increase the operating range.

The MAX8559ETA11+T is designed to operate in either a ground-referenced environment or in a floating environment. When operating in a ground-referenced environment, the regulator will maintain its output voltage within ±1.5% of nominal regardless of the load or input voltage. When operating in a floating environment, the regulator will maintain its output voltage within ±0.5% of nominal.

The MAX8559ETA11+T includes an internal error amplifier, which provides linear and accurate control of the output voltage. The error amplifier is connected to the output in order to regulate the output voltage. The error amplifier compares the output voltage to an internal reference voltage, and when the output voltage is higher than the reference voltage, the error amplifier reduces the voltage on the output. Conversely, when the output voltage is lower than the reference voltage, the error amplifier increases the voltage on the output.

In addition to its precision output voltage regulation, the MAX8559ETA11+T also offers excellent line and load transient response. The line transient response is optimized for low EMI and provides for fast settling times of typically 50µs. The line transient response is also adjustable and can be tailored to meet specific application requirements.
