The MAX9206EAI/V+T is an integrated, high-speed, single-channel serializer/deserializer (SerDes) transceiver. It is an ideal solution for applications requiring high signal integrity and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) performance to meet the rigors of fibre channel and gigabit ethernet SFP applications. This high-performance transceiver integrates an analog physical-medium-dependent (PMD) transceiver to achieve superior signal quality and clock synchronization over long distances. It supports data rates up to 4.25Gbps and offers integrated Los, clock correction, and a variety of clocking and synchronization features.

The MAX9206EAI/V+T supports physical-media-independent (PMI) type connections over copper and fibre media and provides a physical-medium-undependent (PMU) unidirectional serializer and deserializer interface. The SerDes is capable of transmitting data at either 66MHz or 85MHz and uses a differential signalling scheme with 4:1 data input/output (I/O) multiplexing. The SerDes implements 8-bit/10-bit scrambling, lane reversal and clock reversal in order to provide improved signal integrity, especially at the higher speeds.

The MAX9206EAI/V+T is suitable for use in a wide range of interface applications, including fibre channel, Gigabit Ethernet, InfiniBand, Ethernet over SONET/SDH, Bus-on-Wire and other similar high-speed data communications systems. It offers a low power consumption of only 2.0mA/lane at 64bit/66Mbaud operation, making it an ideal choice for applications where power consumption is a consideration. The MAX9206EAI/V+T also features integrated Los circuit and an integrated equalizer for both the serializer and deserializer.

The MAX9206EAI/V+T transceiver supports both SMPTE 204M and SFP LC connector interfaces. It offers high signal integrity features such as phase-locked loop (PLL) clock multiplication and phase-locked loop clock/data recovery (CDR) to ensure reliable data transmission over long distances. The integrated 4:1 multiplexer and demultiplexer architecture allows for a single, low-cost implementation to support both the serializer, deserializer functions.
