MAX9491ETP045+ is a clock generator IC manufactured by Maxim Integrated. It features low-jitter, spread spectrum-compatible design, up to 24 independent outputs, configurable as LVDS, LVPECL, or single-ended. It is based on a proprietary Frequency-Locked Loop (FLL) synthesis technology, which provides extremely low jitter and programmable frequency performance over a wide frequency range.The MAX9491ETP045+ has a broad application field, primarily used in media servers, network routers, servers, HD set-top boxes and internet-connected printers. It is also suitable for general purpose applications requiring multiple synchronization signals, such as microcontrollers, digital cameras, automotive ECUs, base-stations, and more.The working principle of the MAX9491ETP045+ is based on its Frequency-Locked Loop (FLL) technology. The FLL combines a low-cost, yet highly accurate 24-bit programmable oscillator with a low-jitter, band-limited sigma-delta modulator. The modulator acts as a digital filter, essentially “cleaning up” the oscillator input signal, providing low jitter operation. With this unique combination of components, the FLL technology provides the MAX9491ETP045+ with an extremely low jitter and programmable frequency performance over a wide frequency range.The MAX9491ETP045+ also has an integrated spread spectrum capability. This allows for an increased immunity from external noise and interference, providing protection from signal degradation and signal loss due to electromagnetic interference (EMI). The spread spectrum feature can be used for signal transmission over long distances, reducing the number of signal bounces and signal loss over long signal paths.The MAX9491ETP045+ also allows for programmable duty cycle from 0 to 90%, enabling synchronization of multiple devices. Lastly, the device comes with an independent control buffer, providing an output that can be used to reset or control external systems.The MAX9491ETP045+ is a versatile clock generator IC that offers low-jitter, spread spectrum-compatible design, up to 24 independent outputs, configurable as LVDS, LVPECL, or single-ended.
