The MAX96705GTJ/V+T is a serializer/deserializer (SerDes) transceiver designed for multimedia and display applications. It integrates both a serializer and deserializer as well as a full-duplex timing recovery core, and supports high-speed digital video (HDTV) signals. Specifically, the MAX96705GTJ/V+T supports up to 2 lanes of 6 Gbps (3.3 Gbps per lane) and 2 lanes of 3.5 Gbps (1.75 Gbps per lane) to support multiple resolution, multi-format transmission with minimal latency. In addition, the MAX96705GTJ/V+T provides on-chip lane equalization, clock and data recovery, and is optimized to minimize jitter, minimize power consumption, and achieve a wide range of frequency support.
The MAX96705GTJ/ V+T includes a proprietary, low-power, buffer-free receive equalizer called “TheaterMode®” for 6 Gbps operation. This unique feature, which reduces power consumption by more than 40%, supports improved signal integrity and extend link length over FFC / FPC cables, and is especially useful for high-resolution display applications. In addition, the MAX96705GTJ/V+T is designed to operate with a wide range of line rate requirements, including 3.5 Gbps, 1.2 Gbps, and 2.5 Gbps per lane.
Working Principle: The MAX96705GTJ/V+T performs serializer and deserializer functions between Serial ATA (SATA) interfaces and high definition multimedia interface (HDMI) interfaces. Converse to the serializer, the MAX96705GTJ/ V+T performs deserialization for receiving the serialized stream from the LVDS data alternative, and output the incoming format to the HDMI port.
The MAX96705GTJ/ V+T provides a high SNR/eye quality HDMI port and a differential LVDS receiver input. It supports any LVDS input, either a single or dual-lane configuration up to 6Gbps per lane. It has low power consumption, and a very small form factor making it ideal for mobile device and embedded system applications. The IC has HDMI transmitter bias current control and adaptive equalizer pre-emphasis control for optimized signal integrity performance and compatibility with HDMI/DVI standards. It also includes a multi-level FFE/DFE receiver equalizer for improved link margins with low-cost cables, and built-in time buffer to ensure jitter-free transmission of audio streams.
