MAX9670EVKIT+ is designed for accurate illumination control in the automotive and industrial lighting environment. This evaluation kit enables users to quickly evaluate the MAX9670 constant current LED driver. This evaluation kit also enables access to advanced features of the MAX96702 such as integrated overcurrent shutdown, adaptive overshoot control, and soft-start ramp-up.

The MAX9670EVKIT+ is designed to provide an easy-to-use evaluation platform for customers to quickly evaluate and optimize designs based on the MAX9670 Constant-Current LED Driver. The MAX9670 provides 5A peak, 2A continuous, constant current LED regulation from an input voltage range of 6V to 42V (48V max). The MAX9670EVKIT+ includes an LED driver board populated with the MAX9670 device, 4-switch manual control board, two-terminal 3A max power supply, an AC/DC power adapter, 2-pin jumper cables, and a Philips® Luxeon Rebel LED.

Working Principle

The MAX9670EVKIT+ utilizes an integrated voltage regulator to maintain the LED current at a specified level. The MAX9670EVKIT+ contains an inductor and a sense resistor, which are connected to the integrated voltage regulator and the LED driver. The inductor is used to store energy when the load is switched on, while the sense resistor monitors the LED current. When the LED current rises above or falls below the desired level, the sensed voltage across the sense resistor varies, and the integrated feedback regulator adjusts the LED current to match the programmed level.
