MAX9938EVKIT+ Application Field and Working Principle

The MAX9938EVKIT+ evaluation kit is a versatile tool designed for evaluating the performance of the MAX9938, a bi-directional DC-coupled line driver chipset. Operating in either "System" or "Device" modes, the chipset provides two bidirectional, isolated, DC-coupled line-driver amplifiers with independently programmable gain (PGA). The MAX9938EVKIT+ provides access to all configuration options of the device via on-board test points and jumpers, and is designed primarily for applications with line-driving capability such as precision motor control, industrial automation, environment monitoring, and building automation. Furthermore, the kit can also be used to evaluate both the analog and digital communications performance of the chipset.The MAX9938EVKIT+ comprises of the MAX9938 chipset in a small form-factor, easy-to-use evaluation board. It also includes on-board LEDs indicating the active mode and power levels, and a low-noise regulated switcher power supply for the logical circuits. The board’s output terminals are also connected to a pair of adjustable potentiometers, which can be used to vary the input signal levels for both direct-coupled (DC) and AC measurements. The board can also be powered through 6 to 20V of an external supply source.The MAX9938 chipset provides a versatile, effective and cost-efficient solution for line-driving applications. This versatile chipset is capable of operating in either ‘Device’ or ‘System’ mode. In System Mode, the device is configured to drive a pair of isolated signals, while in Device Mode, it can be configured to drive a single bi-directional signal in both directions. The chipset provides low-noise AC-coupled differential outputs, and can deliver up to ±40V of high-amplitude common-mode signals for DC-coupled applications. The chipset also offers several integrated features to minimize the risks of power supply overloading, and also provides a power-on reset (POR) for both DC and AC signals.The MAX9938EVKIT+ evaluation board supports a range of configuration options for the MAX9938 chipset via on-board test points and jumpers, such as setting the output gain and offset, programming the input voltage range, and selecting the power supply voltage. The board also features several other terminals for monitoring the performance of the device such as the Vinput, Vin+ and Vin- inputs for verifying the AC & DC performance of the device under certain load conditions.The MAX9938EVKIT+ is a great way to evaluate the performance of the MAX9938 chipset. The board provides an invaluable resource for evaluating the performance of the chipset in both device and system mode under different sets of parameters.
