The MB39C031WQN-G-321-JNEFE1 (hereafter referred to as the “Device”) is an integrated-circuit linear-switching voltage regulator designed for applications in high-performance equipment such as laptop computers and other portable electronic devices. It is part of the Linear + Switching category of PMIC’s (Power Management Integrated Circuits).

The Device is based on a two-stage power supply system, featuring ultra low-noise linear voltage regulation and an adaptive multi-mode switching regulator. These two stages are integrated onto a single chip, with both the linear and switching sections having separate power inputs and outputs. The switching power supply stage uses the PWM technique to switch the output voltage between two different levels - the regulated output voltage and the ground. These include an on-chip current-limit circuit, an input voltage clamp for protection against excessive input voltage, a soft start circuit for reducing turn-on time, and a wide array of input and output protection features, such as over-voltage, under-voltage, over-current and reverse current protection. Additionally, the Device features a variety of diagnostic features, such as a power-good output, On/Off control input, shutdown input control and a thermal shutdown. All of these features are designed to allow the user to monitor the performance of their system.
