Motor Driver Boards, Modules
The MBEG9A5BCPC is a motor driver board (or “module”) that plays an important role in carrying out high-power motor control tasks. It is a complete motor driver solution that provides a simple, cost-effective way of controlling large DC motors. It consists of two motor driver integrated circuits, one on each side of the board, and is powered by a single 12V DC power supply.
Application field
The MBEG9A5BCPC is designed primarily for controlling the speed and direction of large DC motors. It is suitable for a variety of motor control applications that require higher power handling capabilities than those provided by conventional H-bridge motor driver circuits. The board can be used to drive a wide range of motors, including high-torque brushed DC motors, brushless DC motors, stepper motors (with additional stepper driver components) and other types of motors. It is also well-suited for driving high-power light-emitting diode (LED) arrays, which require precise control of current and voltage levels.
Working principle
The board works by using two integrated circuits (ICs), each of which is responsible for driving two of the four motor phases. Each IC has two inputs and four outputs, and is capable of driving up to 8A of current and supporting up to 26V of voltage.
The two ICs are connected in parallel, so that they both share the same supply voltage. The two inputs on each IC are connected to a logic signal from the controller, which determines the direction and speed of the motor. Depending on the logic level of the input, the corresponding IC outputs are either switched on (high) or off (low).
Whenever an output is switched off, the current flowing through the corresponding motor phase is interrupted. This results in the motor stopping or changing direction, depending on the logic level of the inputs. The ICs are also equipped with temperature protection, over-current protection, and other built-in safety features.
The board also includes two current sense ADCs (analog-to-digital converters), which can be used to measure the current flowing through each of the two ICs. This feature is useful for monitoring the current levels on the board, and can be used to prevent potential damage due to excessive current draw.
