The MC33063AD is a monolithic integrated circuit consisting of a switch, zero-voltage switch, and a controller. It is a step-up/step-down device commonly used as a peripheral power supply switch in a variety of applications, such as controlling power to small DC motors, providing a regulated output voltage from a varying input voltage, and providing reliable and consistent source of power for microcontrollers, to name a few.

The MC33063AD is a synchronous, three-terminal, DC-to-DC switching regulator, specifically designed for microprocessor, microcontroller and logic applications. It is a high-performance device, using current-mode control Concept, providing excellent line and load regulation.

The voltage regulator\'s main features include low current start up of 15 uA with maximum operating current of 1 A, operating input voltage range of 3 V to 16 V, switching frequency of 500 KHz, three selectable operating modes (disc-mode, PWM-mode, and switching-mode), built-in programmable under-voltage lock-out (UVC) circuit, thermal shut down (TSD) circuit, short circuit protection (SCP) circuit, and an external shutdown pin (SD), among other features.

It also provides very low switching frequency noise, as well as very high input ripple rejection.
