The MC68302AG25C is an embedded microprocessor from Freescale Semiconductor. It is a 32-bit processor that uses an on-chip memory management unit (MMU) to support 32-bit virtual addressing and provide an embedded processor solution with maximum system performance and flexibility. Designed for a wide range of real-time applications, this system on chip (SoC) combines superior 32-bit processing, memory and peripheral integration and advanced power management features.

The MC68302AG25C is ideal for designing embedded systems with real time requirements such as automotive, communication, consumer electronics, networking, and industrial control applications. It has a low cycle count full-duplex sequential access memory controller providing access to up to 2 MB of external memory. It is also suitable for creating embedded systems requiring communications, such as routers, firewalls and switches. The processor also includes an on-chip Cache Controller to reduce the memory latency, integrated clock management unit and DMA controller for system performance.

The MC68302AG25C includes a 16KB instruction cache, 8KB data cache, MMU and a three-stage pipeline that enable it to execute instructions at full speed. The MMU supports four pages of virtual address space and provides segmented protection and control as well as separate user and supervisor modes. The processor also includes a single cycle multiply/divide unit and a debugging unit to monitor program execution and access on-chip and off-chip memory.

The MC68302AG25C supports different levels of instruction set architectures (ISAs) including the MOTOROLA 68000 and 68K family. It also supports 32-bit linear addressing, providing a low-cost way to port designs over to the new processor. Furthermore, it offers an integrated Direct Memory Access (DMA) controller, which provides considerable flexibility in data and address communication between system modules.

In terms of power management, the MC68302AG25C can operate in two power modes: Normal Mode and Sleep Mode. In Normal Mode, the processor remains on and requires a voltage supply of 5V. It also supports multiple types of external data buses including the MC68K, Video, Audio and Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) buses. Furthermore, the processor can handle up to 60 MHz clock speed and includes an on-chip physical layer interface for controlling external peripherals.
