The MCP19118T-E/MJ is an advanced, low-cost, high-efficiency DC-DC power conversion controller designed for a variety of application fields, such as PoE (Power over Ethernet) and industrial motors.The controller features a precise 3.3V reference voltage suitable for a variety of applications and delivers a high-efficiency buck converter up to 90%, ideal for voltage rail distribution. It provides various advanced protection functions such as over-current, under-voltage and over-temperature protection, making it suitable for even the harshest industrial environments. The MCP19118T-E/MJ operates in both continuous and discontinuous conduction modes and manages the buck voltage by intelligent shoulder transfers delivered by the controller\'s integrated logic. The advanced modulation scheme eliminates traditional pulse-width modulation techniques, allowing for more precise control of the buck converter, lower output ripple and higher efficiencies. The MCP19118T-E/MJ is capable of providing high-efficiency low side switchable buck conversion, which allows for simple buck to boost simulations and multi-phase buck conversion. The controller requires only three external components, simplifying system design and enabling faster, easier system integration with no trade-offs. When coupled with an external MOSFET, the MCP19118T-E/MJ will provide an optimal topology to meet all power requirements. The controller has several features designed to provide reliable and smooth operation, such as cycle-by-cycle current limiting, over-current protection, low source routing and real-time frequency compensation. For applications where true zero-voltage switching is needed, the MCP19118T-E/MJ supports synchronized and non-synchronized operation, allowing for efficient multi-phase switching with true zero-voltage, as well as single-phase operation with margin for zero-voltage switching.By incorporating a wide range of input voltage ranges, the MCP19118T-E/MJ is highly flexible and capable of providing capabilities for both PoE Class-0 and Class-4 applications. The controller\'s wide output voltage range, which covers 0.7V to 5.5V, makes it suitable for a variety of output voltages and application fields, while the output inductor can be sized as small as 4.7 uH.The MCP19118T-E/MJ is ideal for any PoE application and is capable of delivering some of the highest efficiency levels in the market. Furthermore, the controller features a high level of integration, quick time to market, and excellent flexibility.
