MCP3004-I/P is an Analog to Digital Converter (ADC). It is a 10-bit, single-ended sampling analog-to-digital converter that has a resolution of 0.25mV per bit. It is designed for applications that require an accurate analog-to-digital conversion. It is capable of converting inputs up to 0.3Vdc.

Working Principle of MCP3004-I/P ADC

MCP3004-I/P works by using a technique called Successive Approximation to convert an analog input signal into a digital representation. The successive approximation process works by starting with a guess at the approximate digitized value of an analog input and then comparing it to the actual value of the input. If the guess isn\'t correct, then the approximation is adjusted and the process is repeated until the correct digital value is found.
At the heart of the MCP3004-I/P is a Successive Approximation Register (SAR). This SAR generates a digital word by comparing the analog input voltage with a series of reference voltages.
