Optoisolators are electronic components which use an optical-mechanical interface to electrically isolate two circuits from one another. The optoisolator, also known as an optocoupler, a photocoupler, and an opto-isolator, enables signals and power to be sent between two otherwise electrically isolated circuits. One of the most popular optoisolators in the market is the MCT210M optoisolator, an optocoupler that features a transistor, photovoltaic output.
The MCT210M was developed by Motorola and released in 1990. It is a four-pin TTL-compatible circuit with a maximum peak collector current of 5 mA and a forward voltage of 1.7V. A single package may contain up to 4-channels of 24-channel output photodarlington couplers. The MCT210M is an excellent choice for use in tight-packaged areas as it occupies a very small space.
