MDA6110C Application Field and Working Principle
MDA6110C is a 6-digit, common cathode, seven-segment display module with multiplexed control. It has microprocessor-based control logic which keeps display information accurately and reduces input commands. It has very low power dissipation and its working voltage is from 3V-5V. It is widely used in multiple industrial display products.
MDA6110C is a reliable and easy-to-use display module in a variety of applications such as data logging, medical equipment indicators and count displays. It is frequently used for time display, digital clocks, temperature measurement and control. The module is compatible with major microcontrollers and is able to receive integrated signals from TTL/CMOSs and serial port. Its mounting holes give stable assembly while its red/green LED backlight adds beauty to the applicable designs. Its white characters on black background adds functionality to the application and provides good visibility. There is a 0.6 inch spacing between characters and this reduces the chances of confusion from defects in the figure. The module has a data/instruction latch which is useful for keeping the data on the display for a long time.
Working Principle
The working principle of MDA6110C is straightforward and simple. An integrated driver is integrated on the board, which can directly keep the display information. The integrated driver processes the input signal and sends the data to the corresponding display segments. The backlight is controlled through the integrated driver too.
To control the read and write operation of the display module, it requires 6 to 8 logic signals. There is a display register latch between the data line and display segments. The data line is connected to the data/instruction latch directly. When the enable signal is applied to the module, the display will shift to the new data. The data/instruction latch can hold the display content for some time. The display segment is driven by the line driver.
The power supply to the module is from 3V-5V. The figure below shows the pin connections to the module.
