DC-DC converters are power electronic systems which convert a DC voltage, provided by a battery for instance, into a different but related DC voltage. Although strictly speaking, mixed-signal converters that contain elements of both AC and DC-DC converters do exist, the term DC-DC converter is usually used to refer to a device that converts the DC voltage level only.MEZD72401A-F is one type of DC-DC converters, which is suitable for applications such as data communication, mobile phone, computer and integrated circuits, among other devices. In terms of performance, MEZD72401A-F is characterized by its capability to provide high efficiency and low noise.A general circuit of a typical application of MEZD72401A-F is shown in Figure1. It consists of input and output voltage, a control section and a regulating transformer. The input voltage is rectified by a diode bridge to a direct current voltage and then it is followed by a filter capacitor. When input voltage dips to a certain value, the control section triggers the transistor in order to provide a short “pulses” to the primary coil of the transformer and hence the output voltage rises accordingly.

The main components, the transformer primary and secondary, have both pulse-width modulation (PWM) and voltage-mode control (VMC) modes. When PWM mode is used, the duty cycle and frequency of the electronic signal are varied to control the output voltage, while VMC mode involves variation of the steady-state voltage level.
