Working Principle
The MFDHTA390 is a full bridge motor driver consists of two half bridges,a H-Bridge and an L-Bridge.It is controlled with two chip logic signal inputs,A and B, which together define the four possible output drive states (forward, reverse, brake, and coast). The PMSM, BLDC, BLAC and any other type of motor connected to this board uses a current varying between two values, the applied average current being proportional to the logic input level. The MFDHTA390 offers more types of control signals for more precise motor motions.
Each half bridge of the MFDHTA390 is composed of an intelligent power IC, two high side and two low side N-MOSFETs. The two half bridges act as one full bridge. The board has two additional terminals to sense the current flowing through the motor, allowing the board to automatically adjust the bulk energy applied in order to regulate the motor current. By controling the rotating speed of the motors with this board, a robust and precise motor drive circuit is acheived.
The H-Bridge controls the rotation of the motor, it uses the five chip logic signal inputs to select the desired motor direction. The voltage applied to the motor is regulated by an integrated pulse width modulation (PWM) circuit with a frequency of up to 10kHz.
The L-Bridge is used to regulate the speed by changing the voltage drop between high and low side of the bridge, thus changing the current supplied to the motor. It is also able to deliver a boosted voltage when necessary to raise the current supplied to the motor when a high power output is required. This is useful when starting the motor from standstill or when dealing with a locked rotor.
