MIC2169YMM

The MIC2169YMM is a high-efficiency, high-frequency Buck switching controller designed for a wide variety of applications, from high-end computing to mobile devices. The MIC2169YMM is a digital-controlled switching controller capable of driving both synchronous and asynchronous buck and boost DC-DC converters. It supports both voltage mode and current mode control methods, enabling it to provide high efficiency, low cost, and high power density. The device includes a MOSFET gate driver, a clock and phase compensation loop, as well as a simple 3-wire bus interface that is used to set-up and control the buck and boost modes of operation.

Working Principle

The MIC2169YMM switching controller utilizes a buck topology with an internal MOSFET driver. When voltage mode control is selected, the internal MOSFET is driven at a duty cycle that corresponds to the set output voltage. In current mode control, the voltage across the MOSFET is monitored, and pulse-width modulation is used to maintain the desired current. The MOSFET is also driven at a fixed frequency, which is set by an external clock or an internal oscillator.

The MIC2169YMM also features an Internal Clock and Phase compensation loop, which regulates the frequency and duty cycle of the MOSFET driver, and adjusts the switching frequency to maintain a stable output voltage. This feature helps reduce large output voltage variations caused by line voltage and loading variations, and makes it suitable for applications where precise system-level regulation is required.
