Film capacitors, also known as polymer film capacitors or plastic film capacitors, are electrical components that store electrical energy, much like any other capacitor. The film capacitor stores energy by means of a thin film of electrical insulating material (polyester, polypropylene, and other plastics) placed between two electrodes. The distance between the electrodes, known as the ‘dielectric’, results in a capacitance value. Film capacitors are characterised by low internal equivalent series resistance (ERSR) and high pulse current capability, making them ideal for high frequency, high speed and high power applications.

MMP4W1K-F is a film capacitor developed and manufactured by Murata Manufacturing. It is a surface mount, single-port capacitor that features a low profile of 0.8mm, making it ideal for height-limited applications. The capacitor is available in an SMD package size of 4mm x 5mm x 1mm and is able to withstand high temperature up to +125°C. With an withstand voltage of 4V, the MMP4W1K-F has a capacitance of 1µF and a maximum capacitance tolerance of ±20%.
