Optoisolators - Logic Output is a type of electronic component used to provide a degree of electrical isolation between two parts of a circuit. It is commonly used to prevent transformer harmonics, reduce radiation interference, and provide immunity from electrical disturbances. The MOC5009FVM is an optoisolator - logic output type of electronic component with an extremely versatile application in electronics. It is a versatile and powerful optoisolator used for providing light-sensitive isolation.
MOC5009FVM is used in ultra-low power On-Off and direction control switches and many other analogue and digital systems. These optoisolators are intended for use in circuits to convert a logic input signal into a light output. The output of the optoisolator is designed around laser diode technology which provides ultra-high speed operation and is immune to variations in temperature, voltage hum and noise. Thanks to its high performance, the MOC5009FVM optoisolator is used in many applications such as logic signal transmission, communications, power conditioning and digital line protection.
The MOC5009FVM optoisolator can operate on both polarised and non-polarised logic signals and is capable of interfacing with both 5 volt and 3.3 volt logic levels. It is a type of opto-coupler which uses a LED (light-emitting diode) to transmit the signal output and a photo transistor circuit to receive the input signal. It is capable of transmitting a wide range of frequencies from low to high, depending on the input voltage.
In addition to logic signal transmission, the MOC5009FVM optoisolator is particularly useful for protection from external EMI (electro-magnetic interference) and noise. Its isolation barrier has proven highly effective in reducing the susceptibility of the system to both transient and continuous interference. Its standard maximum isolation voltage rating is 5500VAC, making it suitable for most applications. It is also fully RoHS-compliant which makes it safe for use in both consumer and industrial applications.
The MOC5009FVM output stage is extremely efficient and low-power. Its output stage is designed to operate using up to 20mA, which is significantly lower than most standard optoisolators. The output stage of the MOC5009FVM optoisolator also has an integrated Schottky-clamp diode to limit peak voltage during switching.
The MOC5009FVM optoisolator can be used to interface several logic levels with non-polarised Vcc, such as the 5V logic levels (commonly found in PC’s, telecommunication architectures, security systems and everywhere else where digital logic signal transmission is necessary).
