The MP3373GY-Z is a high-efficiency, constant current driver for LED that protects LEDs from overcurrent. It can be used for portable or battery powered lighting applications. The product is RoHS compliant. This driver is especially suitable for LED applications, like LED streetlights and LED flashlight. It is a switching Mode LED driver integrating a DC-DC boost regulator and a LED string current regulator. The MP3373GY-Z LED driver is available in two versions, a two-channel version and a single-channel version.

Working Principle:

The MP3373GY-Z operates by sampling the voltage across the sense resistor in the LED string and comparing it to the voltage reference. The output of the error amplifier is an average current boost-switched to create the average current through the sense resistor. The output of the error amplifier is also sent to the PWM controller and compared to the set current level by using the internal 1.25V reference. If the output voltage of the error amplifier is higher than this level, the output is disabled. When the sense voltage is lower, the output of the error amplifier is higher, and the output is enabled. The regulation loop is controlled by two pins, the PWREN pin for setting the minimum output, and the IREF pin for setting the maximum output.
