Working Principle of MP5KE11AE3
The MP5KE11AE3 utilizes a clip mode avalanche mechanism to provide protection from over voltage transients. These transients occur when a power source is exposed to an electrical surge or directs a spike of current into a low-impedance load. When this occurs, a channeltron or small avalanche region is created through which the current travels. The current travels through the channeltron until it reaches the lower power portion of the diode\'s avalanche region, which is then able to dissipate the transient energy through its external circuitry. To ensure a high degree of protection, the MP5KE11AE3 utilizes a glass passivated junction to ensure maximum avalanche energy is dissipated.
