MPC8347ZQADDB is an embedded microprocessor based on the Power Architecture® e500 core. It provides a single-core, low-power solution for embedded designs in high performance and low power applications. The MPC8347ZQADDB is an integrated system-on-chip (SoC) device that includes a core processor, a peripheral bus, memories, a hibernation module, an IEEE-1394b controller, an Ethernet controller, and standard networking and communication peripherals. The MPC8347ZQADDB is designed to operate at 1.5 V core and I/Os, and is optimized for low power consumption in active, suspend, and hibernate modes when used in battery-powered, low-power embedded applications.The MPC8347ZQADDB is a highly integrated device that incorporates many of the required components for system architecture designs. It has a dedicated processor core with a 64-bit reduced instruction set computer (RISC) processor and multiple on-chip memory and peripheral interfaces. The Power Architecture® e500 core is based on the PowerPC core architecture, and includes variable instruction execution modes, an enhanced processor core, instruction and data caches, and an optional 256-bit floating point unit.The MPC8347ZQADDB includes multiple interfaces for connecting to a variety of external memory and peripherals. It provides two independent external bus masters, which can be used to access SRAM and external peripherals, such as ethernet, USB and audio/video devices. In addition, the device has an integrated four port Ethernet switch that allows for direct communication between multiple peripheral devices, as well as between multiple microprocessor cores.The MPC8347ZQADDB also contains a hibernation module that allows for the transition from active to standby mode with minimal clock cycles and power cycles. This allows the device to enter a low-power state in order to conserve battery life. It can transition from an active state to hibernation with only a few clock cycles.The MPC8347ZQADDB is an ideal solution for embedded designs that seek to achieve both high performance and low power consumption without sacrificing either feature.
