Working Principle
The MPM3684GRU-Z DC to DC converter works on the principle of transformerless step-down converter (TDC). The TDC uses two high-speed switches (Q1 and Q2) operated at a frequency of around 400kHz. The input voltage is rectified by diode D1 and the current through the switches is limited by R1. The output voltage is regulated by the integrated regulation loop, which compares the output voltage to the reference voltage. If the output voltage is higher than the reference voltage, the control loop deactivates switches Q1 and Q2, thus reducing the output voltage. If the output voltage is lower than the reference voltage, the control loop activates Q1 and Q2, thereby increasing the output voltage. The control loop is activated by an oscillator operating at 400kHz, and the output voltage is further regulated with the help of the secondary winding signal of the transformer (L1).
