Protection Relays & Systems of MPS-469X-31000 are modular, microprocessor-based relay systems capable of protecting electric power systems from harm and providing enhanced control and self-diagnostic capabilities. The modular design of the relay enables it to provide a wide range of protection functions in any combination with the development of different application systems. The MPS-469X-31000 is tailored for a wide range of applications.

The MPS-469X-31000 provides overload, thermal, short-circuit and voltage protection functions for generators, motors, generators, power transformers, feeders and other components. The internal, external and differential protection algorithms and functions are tailored for each application. The overload protection is provided by an overcurrent element with trips for overloads which is initiated when the current exceeds a predetermined value. The thermal protection is provided by a thermal model, which compares the actual temperature of the component to a selected set-point and initiates a protective action if the threshold has been exceeded.

The MPS-469X-31000 also provides short-circuit protection by means of differential and directional elements. The directional element limit the fault current flow and the differential element detects the ground fault current and initiates the trip action if the current exceeds a selected set-point. The MPS-469X-31000 also includes the voltage protection feature which provides protection against over-voltage and under-voltage conditions. This can be used to protect the power system by disconnecting the system when a dangerous voltage level is reached. This prevents damage to the equipment and safety of the personnel.
