Film capacitors, also known as film dielectric capacitors, are polarized capacitors with the grounded electrode and a large dc overvoltage allowance that requires a plastic film as the insulation layer for the medium insulation in the capacitor. They are the most widely used capacitors in current electronic appliances and power electronic equipment due to their excellent temperature stability, large capacity and low cost.
