Once the pin is completely inserted, the compression force of the contact spring ensures that the pin is retained securely in position.

Another key feature of MS4 connectors is that it uses a locking mechanism which prevents the connector from loosening due to vibrations which often happens with other types of connectors. This mechanism is activated after the pins make contact in the socket and keeps the pins from backing out through the locking sleeve located around the opposite end of the socket.
