MSA5360C Application Field and Working Principle

The MSA5360C is an LED Character and Numeric Display Module. This type of display module is typically used in critical applications where high-resolution visual information must be displayed in a 9-digit numeric format. It offers bright, clear visual read-outs for applications such as kiosks, gaming machines and POS terminals.The MSA5360C is a multi-digit display module, featuring a total of nine digits assembled into a robust module with a 2.54 cm pitch and 94 cm of entire digit height. The module includes two multiplex drive pins, two COM and power pins, and four segment cathode pins. The nine characters on the display module are bordered in a rectangular design and are positioned in two columns of four digits, plus one column of a single digit on the right side. The maximum display duration of each digit is 630 milliseconds.With regard to its application fields, the MSA5360C LED character and numeric display module can be applied in various areas such as measurement instruments, medical instruments, laboratory equipments, gaming machines, automotive displays, and the like. The module is also suitable for use in applications where display visibility is critical such as POS terminals, kiosks, and point of sale terminals. It is well-suited for displaying alphanumeric information in digitized format, numeric values, and detailed descriptions which require a larger display area.The MSA5360C operates in either static or dynamic display mode. In static display mode, the module changes each character display at the same rate, which typically takes about 200 milliseconds for each of the nine characters. In dynamic display mode, each character can be displayed at different rates by changing the current flow in each of the multiplex channels.The MSA5360C uses current sources and sinks, which are responsible for generating currents or voltage signals to control the operation of the characters on the display. Each character has two pins connected to the multiplex drive signals at the base of the module. The other two pins are connected to the common source pin and the ground pin which are responsible for supplying the power. The four segment cathode pins on the module are responsible for controlling the display of characters. Each segment pin is responsible for controlling the brightness of a particular character on the display.The MSA5360C is designed to provide high visibility and contrast from any angle.
