MW6-12A is a type of industrial-grade medium-voltage variable frequency drive. It is mainly used for the control and conversion of power supply in industrial fields such as metallurgy, petroleum, medicine, chemicals, and mining. It is widely used in the synchronous control of various three-phase asynchronous motors, and also compatible with single-phase auxiliary equipment.

In terms of external structure, MW6-12A consists of an AC converter, a DC reactor and a controller. The AC converter is a three-phase bridge circuit structure composed of insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBT) and combined with a more advanced three-phase IGBT driving circuit; the DC reactor is used to filter the harmonic current generated by the AC converter; the IGBT is also used in the bridge circuit of the DC reactor to control the output voltage, so as to reduce the size and weight of the reactor. The controller is the “brain” of the drive, which is usually composed of a control unit, a power unit, a user interface, an analog signal conditioning unit, and an input/output unit.

The working principle of MW6-12A is based on the modern pulse width modulation control technology; firstly, the speed signal is converted by a voltage/frequency converter into a voltage/frequency ratio with enough running torque; secondly, after the appropriate frequency and voltage signal is issued to the AC converter, the power component of the signal is amplified by the IGBT to drive the motor. After the motor is correctly started and the speed is constant, the voltage/frequency signal will also remain unchanged. The regular feedback of the working feedback on the motor speed ensures the system runs stably, safely and effectively. In addition, MW6-12A also uses a control unit to adjust the selected frequency signal according to the actual needs of torque, for example, reducing the frequency when starting to reduce starting current and protecting the motor from overload.
