Thermal cutoffs (sometimes referred to as thermal fuses) are devices used to protect electrical circuits from being damaged due to over-current. In essence, they are designed to disconnect the circuit when it reaches a predetermined temperature threshold. MW2 S95 is a thermal cutoff that has been specifically designed for automotive applications.
The MW2 S95 is an electronic thermal cutoff designed for automotive applications such as automotive batteries, starters, alternators, and heaters. It can be used to prevent damage to the vehicle’s electrical system due to thermal overloads. The MW2 S95 is a two-wire, adjustable, over-temperature cutoff with an adjustable trip temperature range from 65° to 95° C (149° to 203° F). The adjustable trip temperature allows for optimal protection by providing an adjustable range for the thermal cutoff to be set to. The MW2 S95 has a nominal trip time of 15 seconds.
The MW2 S95 thermal cutoff has been designed with a two-wire connection. The first wire is connected to the power source, while the second wire is connected to the circuit to be protected. The thermal cutoff has an internal fuse that is used to protect against short circuits and an internal heater for over-current detection and temperature protection. When the temperature of the circuit exceeds the adjustable trip temperature, the MW2 S95 thermal cutoff will open the circuit. When the circuit temperature is lower than the adjustable trip temperature, the thermal cutoff will reset and allow for current flow through the circuit.
The MW2 S95 thermal cutoff is constructed with an aluminum housing and a copper fuse element. The copper fuse element provides increased thermal conductivity and improved protection against over-current and short circuit conditions. The aluminum housing provides superior corrosion protection and insulation, and it is designed with an IP67 waterproof rating to provide protection against the elements.
The MW2 S95 thermal cutoff is also designed with a built-in test button which can be used to easily check the thermal cutoff for continuity. The test button has an LED indicator which will indicate when the thermal cutoff is functioning properly. The LED will light up when the temperature of the circuit is below the adjustable trip temperature.
The MW2 S95 thermal cutoff is designed for applications where maximum protection and reliability are required. It provides superior protection against short circuits, over-temperature conditions, and over-currents. It is easy to install and provides reliable, consistent operation. The MW2 S95 thermal cutoff is the perfect solution for any automotive application requiring superior protection against thermal overloads.
