What is TVS- Diodes?

Transil (Transient Voltage Suppression – TVS – Diodes) is a component designed for protection against electrical overstress, transient voltage spikes, and/or electrostatic discharges (ESD) that can ruin or damage sensitive electronic microcircuits. This type of component is usually a semiconductor device with a breakdown voltage just above the maximum working voltage of a specific assembly. Many modern designs are available, with both unidirectional and bidirectional protection.
