TVS Diodes

TVS (Transient Voltage Suppressors) diodes are solid-state semiconductor devices that protect attached circuitry from transient voltage events – including electrostatic discharge (ESD) – by diverting current away from vulnerable components. They are the electronic component of choice for safely protecting against these events in many applications.

MXSMCG22CA Application Field and Working Principle

The MXSMCG22CA is a 22-V, uni-directional TVS diode from Littelfuse. Offering excellent ESD protection, the diode provides fast response time to clamp voltage excursions caused by ESD or other transient events. The device is rated for minimum breakdown voltage of 24 V, with a maximum clamping voltage of 33 V.

In terms of application field, the device is most commonly used to protect sensitive connectors featured on medical, telecommunication, automotive, computers, portable electronic devices and industrial electronics. For line-to-line applications, two diodes with the same size are connected between the two lines, and for line-to-ground applications, one diode is connected between the application and ground.
