PTC Resettable Fuses are a type of thermal circuit protection devices that provide overcurrent protection to a circuit. NANOSMDC010F-2 is a PTC Resettable Fuse from Nanosolar Solutions designed for applications with lower current ratings. Working Principle: The NANOSMDC010F-2 PTC fuse has two state operations: Off and On. In the OFF state, the fuse is non-conductive, meaning no current is flowing. This is usually the default operating state when the device is first powered up. When a current above the maximum allowable level flows through the fuse, the circuit is automatically shut off and the device switches to the ON state. The presence of current causes NANOSMDC010F-2 to heat up quickly, which causes its internal resistance to increase exponentially. This results in the fuse remaining in the ON state until the temperature drops and the current level returns to normal. Once this happens, the device automatically switches back to the OFF state, allowing the protected circuit to resume normal operation.
As a safety feature, NANOSMDC010F-2 is designed to remain in the ON state even when the current exceeds its rating. This ensures the overload is terminated and the device has the time to cool down before resetting. The time it takes for the device to return to its initial state varies depending on the amount of current it is exposed to. When the temperature of the fuse reaches the rated limit, the fuse trips, permanently disconnecting the circuit.
