The NAR163B display module is a character and numeric LED display device based on single-chip micro-controller technology. It can display alphanumeric characters in 8 Dot matrix format and can display up to 16 character or custom graphics, depending on the specific application.

Working principle

NAR163B is based on single-chip micro-controller technology. It consists of an LED display unit and a control unit. The LED display unit is a common anode LED display, consisting of 6 LED segments. The LED segments are driven through a multiplex1 circuit and powered by a DC voltage. The control unit contains a micro-controller that controls the multiplex1 circuit and determines which LED segments are illuminated at any given time.

When the device is powered up, the micro-controller immediately sets the multiplex1 circuit to illuminate the 6 LEDs. The user can control the device by sending serial commands through the UART interface. The serial commands are interpreted by the micro-controller and the multiplex1 circuit is set accordingly. This allows the user to display characters, numbers and custom graphics on the display.
